Binacorp isn't your commonplace home theater provider, and they're building a brand new La Jolla showroom to demonstrate it.
"We're automated," said Otto Benson, president of Binacorp Home Theater and Automation, which is completely remodeling the retail space at 6837 La Jolla Blvd. that has been everything from a cat boutique to a surf shop the last few years.
"When people think of home audio and video they think of throwing some speakers on the ceiling and turning on some lights," he said. "We put a lot more into it. With this property, I can showcase that room by room."
Binacorp combines all home electrical functions--lighting, windows, hot tubs, computer networks and climate controls--into a single keypad system, which can all be controlled remotely.
"They're able to control anything in the house using their iPhone or computer screen," said Benson. "Before they get to their house, a client can log in from their cell phone and turn on their air conditioning, activate their alarm clock, check their cameras and turn off their sprinklers if it's raining."
Every home theater job done by Binacorp is a custom fit.
"Whatever they want to be able to control they relay that information to us," said Benson, "and we're able to program their system to do it."
Binacorp's new showroom will exhibit how every living space, from a dedicated theater room to a barbecue in back, even bathrooms, can be outfitted to turn them into high-tech smart rooms. It's all meant to be user-friendly.
"There's nothing worse for us than to install a system," said Benson, "and the customer doesn't know how to use it."
Binacorp is hosting a grand opening for its new showroom and design center with cocktails and light appetizers Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. Call (858) 750-3177.
